FYI – this Hertz deal is a big SCAM – I just rented a car yesterday from Hertz and used this deal. In the end, I ended up paying approximately $40.00 more than if I have filled it up myself. Here is the breakdown: 1) Hertz charges for gas a full tank of gas regardless of what you use – they charge 17.5 gallons even though I had a quarter of a tank left. 2) They charge 3.89/gallon plus tax of 8% so this brings the price up to $4.20/gallon 3) they automatically add 6.99 service fee (to pay for putting gas in the car) I was stupid – but I hope others to avoid the huge SCAM – I should have known better.

Thanks for your heads up on this deal. It’s always good to have all the information before moving forward. I looked at the Hertz ad again on Travelocity and they do explain that there is a flat fee of $6.99 and that no credit is given for unused fuel. It sounds like the best way to take advantage of that deal is to return the tank on empty. Thanks again for sharing.
